This Masquerade

This is probably a very common book to discuss at the moment in light of the recent movie, but I very much enjoyed the novel by F. Scott Fitzgerald. I decided to read the book ahead of when I needed to read it for school because the film was being released and I am now reading it a second time and I understand, enjoy and appreciate this piece of writing even more than I did before. I have a love/hate relationship with the characters, especially Gatsby. I dislike his stories made up about him but also my heart goes out to him. You can see he loves Daisy but then it is almost sort of a game when he finally gets her. He tries to have her admit she never loved Tom but she did at one point and he does not get it and he goes after her and then she kills Myrtle and oh the drama. These characters are extremely superficial and selfish, that they are a disgusting group. Even Nick. He watches things and has experiences and he does NOTHING ABOUT IT. Like when Tom breaks Myrtle's nose, Nick just leaves, he does not really react and that irks me. The boook was written beautifully though, the language and the setting, I could feel myself in the novel. So yes, I love this classic story.
